When LivingKitchen opens its doors parallel to imm cologne from 14 to 20 January, visitors will find much to marvel at and experience. Featured very prominently: The Future Kitchen by Swiss Argentinian designer Alfredo Häberli. Koelnmesse has invited Häberli to design his kitchen of the future for the event, which takes place every two years, and present it in a holistic living space of 160 square metres.
Designed in an architecturally clear and straightforward manner, the holistic concept of the Future Kitchen addresses the increasing shortage of resources. In addition, the somewhat open and abstract architecture, which is a departure from the conventional way of how we usually view and think about things, provides visitors with a projection surface where the harmonious combination of technological innovations, modern product design and sensuous materials seems possible.
In Alfredo Häberli’s kitchen of the future, it is essential that there be room for social interaction and individual needs. For Häberli, it is clear that the kitchen will also function as an important place for social living in the future and should be viewed as the workshop and soul of the house. With his concept, Alfredo Häberli also wants to bring back the kitchen area and preparation of food once again as the focal point for people and that they perceive it in this way. All these related cultural activities form the space for Häberli’s kitchen concept, which he calls "Sense & Sensuality".
Located in the new Future Design event format of the LivingKitchen in Hall 4.2, the Future Kitchen reflects the focus of the new format as an experimental space for the wide range of ideas of future kitchen design. Thanks to the industry partners Arwa, Samsung, Schott Ceran and Petersen Tegl, visitors will be able to experience the kitchen furnishings and a variety of kitchen appliances, which Alfredo Häberli has designed as part of his future scenario – virtually as augmented reality. Manufacturers such as Alias, Astep, Atelier Pfister, Baltensweiler, Flos and New Tendency will be providing other selected products for Alfredo Häberli’s kitchen vision.
