Future Kitchen: Alfredo Häberli’s kitchen vision
For Swiss design star Alfredo Häberli, the kitchen is the soul of the house – and he’s turned his attention to its contemporary manifestations on more than one occasion over the years. For this reason, the Cologne trade fair experts invited him to design a future kitchen for the Future Kitchen format that was part of LivingKitchen’s supporting programme in 2019: 160 sq m of space were dedicated to an entire interior scenario with the kitchen as its centre.
Alfredo Häberli’s vision of the future kitchen is characterised by surprising clarity and straightforwardness. The internationally renowned designer takes the history of the kitchen, abstracts the idea from the form and offers visitors an architectonic surface for projection that suddenly makes anything seem possible: space for technological innovations, modern product design and sensuous materials, but also space for social interaction and individual needs – that’s the framework within which the kitchen of the future took shape. It was filled with life and sensory delights at LivingKitchen 2019 in Cologne.
Real and virtual – experience Future Kitchen
Thanks to partners from the industry such as Arwa, Samsung, Schott Ceran and Petersen Tegl, visitors were able to experience the kitchen equipment and a series of kitchen appliances that Alfredo Häberli had designed as a future scenario not just in the real world but in a virtual setting too – in augmented reality. Manufacturers like Alias, Astep, Atelier Pfister, Baltensweiler, Flos and New Tendency are providing additional select products for the installation.
